2024 Dodge Hornet
2024 Lincoln Nautilus

Safety

The Hornet has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Nautilus doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Hornet. But it costs extra on the Nautilus.

Both the Hornet and the Nautilus have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

There are almost 4 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Hornet’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 68 more problems per 100 vehicles, Lincoln is ranked 28th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in long-term dependability. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Lincoln is rated lower.

Engine

The Hornet GT’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 18 more horsepower (268 vs. 250) and 20 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 275) than the Nautilus’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

Regenerative brakes improve the Hornet R/T’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Nautilus doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Dodge Hornet, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Nautilus.

Tires and Wheels

The Hornet’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Nautilus’ optional 45 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

For greater off-road capability the Hornet GT has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Nautilus (8.1 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Hornet to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Dodge Hornet may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 650 pounds less than the Lincoln Nautilus.

The Hornet is 1 foot, 3.2 inches shorter than the Nautilus, making the Hornet easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Hornet is 7.4 inches narrower than the Nautilus, making the Hornet easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

Towing

The Hornet’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Nautilus’ (2000 vs. 0 pounds).
